At DeBlasio & Associates, we believe the future of our profession begins with mentorship. That's why we've made investing in college interns an important part of our company culture.
Each year, we proudly welcome engineering and surveying students from leading regional universities, including Rowan University, Drexel University, and Rutgers University. Many of our interns return during multiple summer and winter breaks throughout their college careers, allowing them to gain progressively greater responsibility and real-world experience with every semester.
Unlike many firms where interns are limited to observation or repetitive tasks, our interns become active members of our project teams. They work alongside licensed engineers, professional land surveyors, project managers, and experienced field personnel, gaining exposure to virtually every aspect of our profession.

Because DeBlasio & Associates offers a diverse range of civil engineering, surveying, planning, and municipal services, interns have the opportunity to experience multiple disciplines—including site development, municipal engineering, transportation, water and wastewater infrastructure, surveying, construction administration, and land planning. This broad exposure helps students discover their interests while developing a well-rounded understanding of the engineering profession.

Engineering & Surveying Internship Program

Building Experience. Developing Talent. Inspiring Future Professionals.

At DeBlasio & Associates, P.C., we believe some of the most valuable lessons in engineering and surveying are learned beyond the classroom. Our internship program provides college students pursuing careers in engineering, surveying, and related technical fields with meaningful, hands-on experience and the opportunity to learn directly from experienced industry professionals.

We offer part-time internship opportunities during winter and summer academic breaks, allowing students to gain practical exposure to their chosen professions while continuing their education.

Hands-On Field Experience

Our interns begin their experience in the field, working alongside our experienced construction observation staff and professional survey crews on active municipal infrastructure, construction, and land surveying projects.

Through construction observation assignments, students gain firsthand exposure to construction operations, engineering plans and specifications, field documentation, and the importance of quality control, safety, and communication throughout the construction process.

Working alongside our survey crews, interns are introduced to field surveying techniques, data collection, surveying equipment, site measurements, and the processes involved in establishing accurate information for engineering design, construction, and property-related projects.

These field experiences provide students with a valuable understanding of how engineering and surveying professionals work together to bring projects from initial planning through construction.

Office Experience & Professional Mentorship

Building upon their field experience, interns also spend time in our offices collaborating with licensed Professional Engineers, Engineers-in-Training, Survey Project Managers, Project and Construction Managers, and CAD/GIS design professionals.

Students are introduced to the technical and administrative aspects of engineering and surveying projects, including the development of design plans, preparation of survey drawings, interpretation of field data, project documentation, and the coordination required to successfully manage projects.

By experiencing both field operations and office-based project development, interns gain a broader understanding of how engineering designs and survey information are developed, coordinated, and ultimately applied in real-world construction and infrastructure improvements.
